If you manage your own vacation rental, you have total control over who uses your vacation home.  You can increase your income by thousands of dollars each year since you no longer pay commissions to a management company.  Even if you live out of the Big Bear area, arrangements  can be made with local Big Bear service providers to open & close, deliver keys, and handle the cleaning and maintenance at a fraction of the cost that you would normally pay a full service management company.

You can also make arrangements to offer convenient options for your renters, such as pre heating your rental home in the winter, providing linen service, trash removal, or firewood delivery.  Most renters are happy to pay a little extra for these amenities.

One of the most important things that can’t be over emphasized is to properly prepare a home for your renters before you begin marketing or taking bookings.   Advance preparation will provide a positive experience for both you and your vacation renter.  Happy renters will turn into loyal customers that will provide repeat bookings for years to come.  A properly prepared vacation rental is a must if you want avoid problems that would be inconvenient or expensive to fix later on down the rode.
